Twice a year, I visit High Point Market in North Carolina to discover the latest and greatest of the interior design world. Visiting my favorite showrooms and gaining insight into where the industry is headed are very important (and fun!) parts of my job. New product introductions are a special joy. It’s almost overwhelming how inspiring just one showroom can be! And it helps me find the pulse of next year’s trends. Now that it’s December, I’m taking a look back at October’s High Point Market style. And possibly creating a 2019 wish list for myself…
If you’re starting a new design project, choosing a color scheme for your home may seem like it’s the first thing you need to do. Your home, after all, will be your sanctuary, as well as a place to entertain family and friends. You want a space that reflects your personal style and interests. So, you start flipping through magazines, reading design blogs, and to find the perfect residential color scheme.
One of my biggest joys has been renovating the BLVD house and making it my own. As many of you know, this home was not in the best condition when Michael and I purchased it. Soggy walls, a wet basement, an addition that seemed to be held together by magical forces…all of these issues and a few more plagued this home.
But my passion for home renovation interior design allowed me to see the beauty behind its many flaws. Still, I knew that it would take a lot of work. I needed a lot of great people to see my vision and make it a reality! That’s why I’ve created this guide.
Fabulous design aside, nothing makes me happier than spending quality time with my family and friends. This is why the holidays fill me with so much joy. Schedules finally start to wind down and everyone becomes more focused on simpler pleasures, like sharing good food, great wine, and lots of laughs.
There are so many places, people and things that inspire me. Thanks to Instagram and interior design blogs, finding inspiration has never been easier. And even though I’m always finding something new, there are a few interior designers I keep coming back to. It doesn’t matter whether I’m looking at their Instagram or reading a blog post, I always find tons of inspiration. These interior designers have such unique design perspectives and an amazing eye for design.
