If you’ve been following the Ohorona24.in.ua team for a while now, you know that we’re a tad obsessed with unexpected statement pieces. An interesting piece of art or a fabulous accessory are great “go to” pieces, but sometimes you just need to let the walls to do the talking. Wallpaper is one of our favorite ways to incorporate a unique element of surprise into a space – especially when there are one or two walls that need some extra love.

Now I know you’re probably thinking – wait, wallpaper is back? Do I have to wallpaper the entire room? Why can’t I just paint the space?
Let me say wallpaper never really went away, but the hideous wallpapers of years past are gone for sure! Depending on the look you’re trying to achieve, wallpaper can be used all over or it can be used on an accent wall. An overall wallpaper is perfect for a smaller space like a formal dining room or small powder bath. It brings a very cozy and warm vibe to the room.
Mudrooms or small bathrooms are a great place to experiment with a wild wallpaper because it’s definitely unexpected. These rooms are transitional areas where you aren’t usually spending a lot of your time. (Unlike the bedroom where a more tranquil color palette or design may be easier for catching some quality zzz’s.) So don’t be afraid to use a big and bold wallpaper in a small space!
But that shouldn’t stop you from using wallpaper as an accent wall in a larger space either. We love building a design around a gorgeous statement wallpaper pattern. Using a coordinating paint color on the other walls will pull the room together without overwhelming your eye with pattern. And incorporating similar colors from the wallpaper into pillows, bedding, art and accent pieces will bring a cohesive, finished feel into your space.

The key is to let the wallpaper be the star and not make it compete with other things in the room. If your wallpaper is a large print, use more neutral accessories to really make the statement wall pop. For a wallpaper with a small pattern or simple texture, go big and bold with the accessories! So whether you decide to do an overall wallpaper or use it as an accent, wallpaper adds a fun whimsical touch to any space.
