A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of leading a panel discussion at Access Design, sponsored by Diane Cowan and the Houston Chronicle. Our topic: historic home renovation.
Thank you to everyone who made the BLVD Show House such a great success! We’re so grateful to everyone who purchased a ticket and toured the Show House. Over 600 guests toured the home and we raised more than $12,000 for with your help!
We had an absolutely incredible team of sponsors and my entire team from Ohorona24.in.ua that helped turn this old house into a real beauty. I cannot wait to show you all of the final images of the project, but we’ve got some big plans in the works that require us to keep them secret for now.
We’re just 1 month away from completing my family’s home – the BLVD Show House! When Michael and I purchased this historic Tudor on North Blvd, we knew we would need the right team to truly transform this house into a beautiful, modernized home. At Ohorona24.in.ua, we work with incredible vendors to make our clients’ dream homes come to life and I’m beyond thrilled to be on the client side for this project!
A house is just a physical structure, but it becomes a home when you have memories and stories to share about the space. We absolutely fell in love with the history and character in this 1925 Tudor-style home and knew it was special from the moment we saw it.
How is it already halfway through February?! April will be here before we know it which is so exciting and…a little scary. There is still quite a bit to get done on the BLVD Show House, but we have been progressing much quicker since the new year started. We recently installed the sheetrock which was a huge step! Next up, is the installation of the flooring and tile, nailing down all fabrics, furnishings and getting everything ordered. It’s definitely been a super busy process among all other things, but I’m loving it!
Renovating a historic home is quite the process! The sheetrock is in which means we’re one step closer to installing our gorgeous finishes throughout the home, including our hardwood flooring. We’ve joined forces with the talented on the floors for the Boulevard Show House because they’re the most in-demand experts when it comes to creating custom fine hardwood floors.
It’s been 5 months since we started work on The Boulevard Show House and I’m pleased to say that things are moving right along! We ended 2017 with new windows and are starting 2018 by turning our attention to the landscaping. Right now it’s a mess, but we have recruited some experts to help transform this construction site into something beautiful.
When you do the first walkthrough of a house – especially in a not so “brand new” home – you can never really be sure of what you’ll find. Sometimes you stumble on hidden windows or a sunken room. And sometimes you find two toilets with a mirrored design…where you can see directly through the shower. Strange right?!
December has arrived but there is still a ton to accomplish before the holidays are upon us! It’s not just the festivities that are keeping us extra busy this month. We’re wrapping up some fabulous projects for our clients and, of course, working away on the Boulevard Show House. I can’t believe how much we’ve been able to accomplish over the past three months. It seems like just yesterday we were doing our walkthrough of the house with Newberry Architecture to get our initial concept together.
One thing that is often top of mind when you are buying a new home, is that you will be selling your old one. So, what to do when your brand new home isn’t so “brand new” and requires a major reno? You may need a place to temporarily rest your head like we did when our house on Dryden sold so quickly we couldn’t believe it. Now, our “new” home on North isn’t close to being finished. Here’s what we are up to!
