After nearly a year in the making, I am so excited to show off the finished products of my collaboration with Vetrazzo and introduce you to !
The full product line features four colorways – designed by yours truly – and I could not be prouder of this collaboration and work accomplished alongside the fabulous team at Vetrazzo. What began as a quick visit to the Vetrazzo facility in Georgia last May – simply to meet the team and tour the grounds – has come full circle to create a beautiful line of surfaces that are equally as durable as they are stunning.
Read on to learn more about the surfaces and my inspiration for each one!
There are so many things I love about these surfaces, so much so that I have even installed one of them in my own kitchen (you can read more about that)! For starters, I began this project with two requirements in mind: the finished products had to be beautiful, of course, and, most importantly, they had to perform well. In short, they had to define livable luxury and each of the four colorways checks those boxes.
In addition to the look and performance aspects of the product line, I love that Vetrazzo surfaces are made with 100 percent recycled class, which means the product is eco-friendly (a huge for me) and every surface is completely unique!
As I tend to do with all of my classically current interiors, I looked to the past for inspiration when creating each colorway. Specifically, the popular American cities reminiscent of the mid-century modern era of interior design: Miami, Palm Springs and Old Hollywood. The result is four colorways each unique in their own design and all capture the inspirations of one of my favorite time periods with touches of modern influences.
From Palm Springs to Miami, the “Fair Pearl” colorway is truly reminiscent of America’s cities rooted in the mid-century design aesthetic. The unique blend of neutral and blush shades with a pearly iridescence makes Fair Pearl a natural in the kitchen or bath (hence my personal kitchen!). I imagine pairing this with clay pink accents and mixed metals for a sophisticated and modern design. This colorway is a gorgeous textural neutral with clean white glass ground and flecks of blush and soft gray.
The crystal blue waters and calming waves of the Miami coast inspired the soothing combination of seafoam green, aqua, white and sparkling mirrored glass featured in the “Aqua Current” colorway. Perfect for a beachside retreat or an urban oasis, this design reflects on the sensory elements of a coastal breeze and tranquil sounds of waves breaking on the shore. I recommend pairing this one with silver accents or crisp, white shades to create a look inspired by the mid-century modern coastal designs of the 1960s.
The bold purple blend featured in the “Orchid Reflection” colorway is inspired by the stunning wildflower fields found in the hidden, rural areas of California. The Anza-Borrego State Park, south of Palm Springs, serves as a botanical hot spot and muse for this vibrant piece. Highlighting the dark plum hue as the design focal point creates the perfect mix of feminine style with a masculine edge found in the flecks of mirrored glass.
Inspired by the glamour of old Hollywood, the “Classic Black” colorway defines my “classically current” design philosophy by bridging the gap between timeless classics and modern day design. The sharp contrast of black & white brings to mind iconic mid-century modern design. Bold, black glass mixed with the classic white and soft gray tones makes for a fabulous vintage design with a classically current twist. After all, is there anything better than a space rooted in crisp black and white?
Et Voila! A collaboration a year in the making and it was certainly worth the wait!
