When we did the walkthrough of the Boulevard Show House pre-renovation, we realized something was missing. The layout didn’t include a family room or a playroom for the girls. These were two rooms we knew we definitely wanted to have, so the challenge was to figure out how to add these two rooms to the house. Luckily, one of the best parts about doing a renovation is that you have the opportunity to create new spaces from existing ones…so that’s exactly what we did!
One of the things about being a designer is that I’m always rearranging, tweaking and changing up the look of a space…trying to find new ways to make the space feel more personal and lively. Though pillows, rugs or a new coat of paint can definitely change the vibe of the room, art can be even more impactful. Art plays a supporting role and a room isn’t complete without it.
Seeing brand new designer collaborations first hand at High Point Market is definitely one of the highlights for me. Meeting the creative genius behind the collection is icing on this designer cake! This past market (Fall 2017) I had the distinct pleasure of speaking with Thomas Pheasant about his new collection for Baker furniture. Mr. Pheasant is not only an award-winning interior designer, he’s internationally recognized for his elegant and thoughtful furniture collections, which are a contemporary interpretation of classic design principles.
Anyone that has ever renovated a home knows that it is a total roller coaster ride! The highs of the concept and kick-off where anything is possible, to the lows where you discover the entire structure is termite ridden and it seems nothing is possible. Then on to the part where you are stuck upside down ready to call in the rescue squad because the home is just torn to bits. I am thrilled to say that we are now at the less terrifying part of the theme-park-ride that is the reno of my own home: the furnishings!
When it comes to remodeling projects, its a process and takes some time for them to really take off. There are tons of different pieces that you have to get started, but then all of a sudden…wow! Things start coming together and it feels like the project has shifted into hyperspeed. There has been a lot going on since our last update and now we’re really starting to get into the fun stuff!
There are few things in the design world that stay consistent. Trends change, new products emerge and classic designs are constantly reinterpreted. But despite the constant stream of changes, there is one thing that has remained Classically Current – black and white. This sophisticated and timeless color combination is not only striking and bold but the ideal match for any color palette. It provides the perfect base for any design that both minimalists and traditional interior lovers will appreciate.
Hey Guys! I’ve got some big and exciting news over at the Ohorona24.in.ua studio. Our Team just attended the ASID Ruby Awards this past Sunday and ended the night with not one, but SIX awards!. When you think of feminine colors, shades of pink are one of the first colors that come to mind. For quite a while now, millennial pink has been a hot color in the design world. But I feel the winds of change a-blowin’ and I’m calling it: This season I’m predicting that lilac is the new blush!
Getting the opportunity to collaborate with one of our go-to rug vendors has been such a fun experience! Over the past several months we’ve been meeting and working with the team at Tai Ping to create our own custom rug collection. And after a few brainstorming sessions, we were able to settle on a theme and learn all about the technical details of manufacturing a rug. We recently sat down with Corbin Perkins of Tai Ping to get an update on the rugs and sneak a peek at two completed rug samples, fully made based on sketches and selections from the last meeting.
October has been a month of travels, several team member birthdays (including a milestone for this one right here) and TONS of inspiration. As you probably know – because I constantly talk about it! – October brings my annual trip to High Point Market. It’s the best opportunity for the industry to discover new introductions from the best design houses and manufacturers in the US. This is a market visit I eagerly anticipate each fall so, if you haven’t checked out my HPMKT Recap, give it a read.
As this eventful month comes to a close the Ohorona24.in.ua team is happy to share our new sources of inspiration. From bold furnishings, to fun lighting, to gorgeous accents we can’t wait to share our finds with you. I hope you discover your next obsession here too!
