After a long hectic week at the studio and running around with my twin girls, I’m dreaming of a spa day. However, I can hardly sit still long enough to have my nails done, so I’m not sure carving out time for a full day at the spa will happen any time soon. My solution is to turn my master bathroom into a spa, an ambient and meditative space. It’s the perfect way to create a serene environment I can enjoy every day.
I like to think of bookshelves as a giant puzzle. How can I fit all my favorite finds into one cohesive design statement? The endless possibilities can seem overwhelming, but don’t be discouraged. If you take your time and have fun with it, you can transform boring and cluttered into a design masterpiece. Plus, I change mine all the time and even rotate items in and out seasonally!
To start you on your styling journey, here are some of my favorite items I use when styling a bookshelf!
P.S. There will be a lot of moving around of items until you get them just right, but even then, as your collection of mementos increases, you will find yourself constantly updating your shelves with ease.
My team and I love the start of a new year, as winter begins to fade off (or in the case of Houston, come and go periodically) and spring begins to bloom, sparking fresh inspiration. With all the new designs, amazing colors and fab patterns, we can hardly wait to share our favorite January finds!

Focusing on the design of your foyer can be hugely rewarding. It’s not a large space, so it will take just a bit of time and a relatively small budget for you to make a big impact in this small space! Your entryway is the perfect place to welcome friends and family into your home in style. After all, it is the first thing guests see when walking into your home. First impressions and all that…
From top to bottom (and by this, I mean from the floor to the ceiling), the entryway should set the tone for the rest of your home. If your home is anything like mine – kids often running wild – incorporating handsome storage is a must for hiding shoes, backpacks, and sports gear.

Every home has so much potential to be beautiful! As an interior designer, it is incredibly rewarding to see the transformation that occurs during a major renovation. When walking through a home that has been lovingly cared for over the decades but has never been updated, I dream of all that can be done to bring it up-to-date so it functions perfectly for a young family. While I love designing homes from the ground up, my heart lies in a gut renovation project.
Looking back on one of my favorite projects, I remember the importance of both looking at every detail and stepping back to see the big picture throughout the entire process. The design of this home was a collaborative endeavor between me and (our principal designer), , , , and the lovely homeowners. This dream team created a gem of a home!
Follow along with me as I go through the transition of this gorgeous home from start to finish.
I love to add comfy upholstery wherever space allows, and one spot that can always use extra attention lays at the foot of the bed. You start and end your day in the bedroom, so why not create an uber-comfortable lounge space for yourself? Placing a chic bench, settee or a pair of chairs transitions a master bedroom into a proper master retreat.
Sure, it may occasionally become a convenient location for a pile of laundry or turn into your pup’s new lounge spot, but that’s what makes a house a home! Read on to see some of my favorite ways to make the most of the space at the foot of the bed.
As the holidays continue to creep up and we begin to prepare our homes to entertain family members of all ages, now is the perfect time to talk about fabulous, yet functional, design tips. This topic is extremely important to me because I am a big champion of the idea that families with young and rowdy kids should not have to sacrifice interior design that is fit for the adults in the home.
With that in mind, here are three easy ways to get your home in shape for holiday entertaining for your gang of rambunctious cousins, perfectly polished aunts, football-watching uncles, fabulous in-laws and lovely grandparents.
Here are my top three strategies when designing a home to entertain for all ages, all year round.
Let’s play a lightning round of Design Myth Busters, shall we?
Myth: Neutral colors create a drab interior design.
FALSE: While I LOVE a healthy dose of color in my designs, neutral tones can create inviting, cozy and serene interiors and have the ability to create retreat-like spaces in your home.
One of my favorite things about neutrals, aside from the soft and warm environments they create, is the way they allow other design elements – like texture and pattern – to take center stage. Read on to discover the benefits of going “au-neutural” in your color palette!
Although fall’s High Point Market has come to a close (tear rolling down cheek), I’m glad to gradually settle back into the swing of things here in the studio. With that comes prepping for the holiday season and helping our clients get ready to entertain their guests!
