I don’t know about you but, after a long hectic week with the kiddos and the studio, I am dreaming of a spa day. I can hardly sit still to have my nails done, so to carve out time for a full day at the spa seems like it will never happen. So, I turned my bathroom into my own version of a relaxing spa-like space.
I like to think of bookshelves as a giant puzzle. How can I fit all my favorite finds into one cohesive design statement? The endless possibilities can seem overwhelming, but don’t be discouraged. If you take your time and have fun with it, you can transform boring and cluttered into a design masterpiece. Plus, I change mine all the time and even rotate items in and out seasonally!
To start you on your styling journey, here are some of my favorite items I use when styling a bookshelf!
P.S. There will be a lot of moving around of items until you get them just right, but even then, as your collection of mementos increases, you will find yourself constantly updating your shelves with ease.
Blue and White; a match made in design heaven. Our friends at have fallen in love with the dynamic duo once again, and so have we! It’s such a classic look and a go to for many of our interiors.
Last week we got a glimpse of what individual pieces are making waves in the interior design world, but what about the big picture? Let’s take a step back and see what’s predicted to happen on a larger scale.
Today we want to take a moment to appreciate all the wonderful Moms out there. Mother’s Day is one of the few occasions we make a point them know just how much we appreciate them. We tell them how much they mean to us and some of us even send a special, thoughtful gift – bonus points!
You have probably noticed that we LOVE gorgeous pops of color, in almost any space! And from our , you may have noticed our obsession with the vibrant red-orange we like to call ‘Tangerine Dream’. Our board features great ideas on how to incorporate this color into your home, all at-a-glance.
From a Dreamsicle pastel version, to a muted pumpkin, to brights that are the visual equivalent of a hefty dose of Vitamin C, orange is a great way to infuse your space with a sunny energy!
One classic pairing is a cool gray with a vibrant tangerine it – looks modern and bright and clean!
Another favorite combo is combining lavender with washed out orange. It’s feminine, but not too frilly.
You can bring this energetic and refreshing color into your space in so many ways; a single accent item or wall, a small grouping or accessories collection, or coating your room wall to wall in tangy color for a bold effect. and feel free to show us how you have incorporated a little tangerine into your own spaces!

Since we’re currently working so diligently on Joe’s dream room, we thought we’d send a few tips for children’s rooms your way! Finding the perfect balance between child friendly and fabulously stylish can be tricky. To make the process a little easier, we’ve collected 5 Tips for Creating the Perfect Play Room inspired by .
- IMPLEMENT EASY-CLEAN UPHOLSTERY
Continuing on with the keeping-clean lifestyle, we encourage using fabrics and upholstery that is breathable and as stain resistant as humanly possible. Check out our in our boutique to find some inspiration!
Save the neutral hues for your guest suite. Kids love color and we love it too! When collecting inspiration your play room select your favorite bright-colored palette or, better yet, go for the full spectrum.
Where there is a child, there is usually a toy. Creating a space that can fit every trinket into storage is difficult to do without the right tools. Take advantage of spare corners, space under furniture, and be sure to stock up on storage bins that allow for a quick and efficient cleanup by little hands.
- AMPLE FLOOR SPACE
Kids love having space to run around! Not to mention the fact that Houston weather can be a bit unpredictable sometimes. Giving your child a space that’s both livable as well as play-friendly will make them feel like they can have just as much fun indoors as out.
- ACCESSORIZE MINIMALLY
Antiques, collectables, one-of-a-kind furniture and dainty accessories are so wonderful – but not anywhere near a playroom floor! Put your “fun to look at, but don’t touch” items up on high shelves or in wall-hung shadow boxes. Your kiddos will love to look at them and you can add to them over time.
Send us your ideas for kid’s play rooms – we’d love to hear them! Visit our blog for more kid’s room requests and designs!
