This past April I shared a special blog post with you all detailing our plans to create a whimsical nursery interior design for my dear friend Carrie Colbert’s daughter (who at that time was still on the way). Now, fast-forward four months and sweet Elle Esther is two months old and I have some exciting updates to share!

Our nursery interior design concept from the very beginning was to create a fun, modern and playful nursery that would be able to evolve as Elle grows – so we kept the walls simple (but oh so sweet) with Carrie’s fave paper: the Aurora Petal by Calico Wallpaper. This custom wall covering is perfect for this space with its ombre design of pastel pink-to-a-soft-white adds a serene, graceful feeling to the room. Perfect for Elle’s naptime. This wallcovering set the tone for the space by grounding it in a light, bright, and chic palette. Because each panel is custom made for the space it required precise measurements of the room, including all windows and doors. And it was worth the effort – I’m talking no room for error here – as it turned out beautifully.

To the followers of Wear +Where+Well, it is no secret that Carrie Colbert has a love for vibrant colors and pom poms – so what better way to incorporate those details than in this adorable, modern chandelier from Sazerac Stitches. The six colorful eyeball shades are in proper rainbow order and resemble the color wheel, while the mid-century modern design gives the playful fixture a contemporary edge that will work for all of Elle’s stages.

Next, on our install list was the fabulous drapery. Oh so important since nothing aids naptime like a fabulous blackout drape! The gorgeous Bella solid fabric in the Mascarpone colorway is from the Crypton Home Collection. If you don’t know Crypton, let me just tell you what this means: beauty and performance! You can rest easy with this fabric – any spills or smudgy baby hands are quickly cleaned away. We then added a healthy dose of pom poms – necessary! – which we found at Kravet.

It is common within the design process that items change, ideas evolve and new pieces are selected, so if you look back at our design board from our First Collab Announcement, you might notice a few differences… such as the rocking chair and side table. We wanted to make the mod vibe more prominent within the design so we switched it up!

The Carlo side table from Anthropologie is a perfect compliment to the soft tones of the wallcovering, and its geometric shape adds to the modern vibes of the space (oh, and it’s super easy to clean – very important!) Now that rocker – it is so cool! This rocking chair from Scout Design Group gives this sweet nursery some edge. The design is modern with some vintage influences in its oversized Lucite, circular base. It’s perfect for rocking little Elle to sleep.

Lastly, the room is grounded by this gorgeous wool area rug from Stark Carpets – in the colonial white colorway. It pulls everything together!

What’s left you ask? Well, we have some fun things planned, including reupholstering the fab rocker in a vibrant, printed fabric – check out our options below! There are only a few more finishing touches left for this adorable nursery. So be sure to keep an eye out for our final reveal soon. We (and Elle) can’t wait to share its completion with you!
