Coffee or Tea:

Coffee…especially Iced Americanos from Starbucks

Favorite book:

I don’t spend much time reading, but am always perusing design mags, blogs & books for inspiration – and am in love with every one of the Kelly Wearstler books!

If You Weren’t a Designer You Would be a:

Neonatal ICU nurse. Growing up, I was always drawn to both design as well as the profession of nursing. I attended The University of Texas at Austin, and when the time came to choose a major I decided to go the nursing route as it seemed like the right decision at the time.

[/ezcol_1half] [ezcol_1half_end][/ezcol_1half_end] Well, several biology courses and many second thoughts later, I realized that my heart was with design and so I immediately made the decision to apply to the School of Architecture to study Interior! I haven’t looked back since!

Three Things Every House Needs to be a Home:

  1. Family | This can mean a spouse, friends, a pet – really anything! With family, comes laughter and love and, in my opinion, no home is complete without this!
  2. Comfort | Your home should be your place of retreat, where you can totally unwind and relax.
  3. Good food & wine | I absolutely love to cook and enjoy preparing special things for my family – something that I learned from my mom. The kitchen is a natural gathering place in a home, and it should be filled with wonderful tastes and smells!

If You Could Live in a Movie Set it Would Be:

It’s Complicated – specifically, the Kitchen! It’s the perfect mix of chaos and organization, and I just love how inviting it feels. I could totally unwind and perch over the marble counter with a good glass of red wine!

What Inspired You to Become a Designer?

My mom is incredibly talented and really creative, so I was constantly inspired growing up by all of the many things she created – and to the high level of detail to which she took them to. I think it was only natural that I ended up in such a creative field with my own career!

Favorite Item Recently Installed:

A Schumacher grasscloth wallcovering in a gorgeous shade of pale purple-grey, which was installed in a clients Master Bedroom.

What are Your Go-To Colors?

That’s easy….white and grey. While it may seem boring to some, I find it incredibly timeless and classic. Plus, with such a neutral palette it gives you a lot of flexibility to incorporate different accent colors throughout.

When Talking About Trends:

END IT: Chevron

LOVE IT: The unexpected use and/or location of patterns. I love the idea of taking it to the ceiling, creating it on a wall with tile, discovering it on the backside of a chair, etc…

WANT MORE OF IT: Mixed metals. Such a pretty, and complimentary, contrast.
