Have you ever sat down and thought to yourself (insert thought bubble here!) “I wish there was a table here on which I could rest my martini!”? Not having a place to rest and relax after a long day or having to awkwardly hold your drink because there isn’t a place to put it down just isn’t very pleasant. Seating and table space are two things to keep in mind when designing a family room or living room. That’s why having the right accent table in the right spot is so important.
Small spaces can often put you an interior design quagmire. Reconciling the space you are given with your aesthetic desire can be tough! When you don’t have the time to design and then produce a custom piece, you are destined to purchase “off-the-shelf”. Avoid the search headaches with our favorite ready-made sofas that keep things chic when you don’t have time to customize!
Art can be called many things – thought-provoking, simple, contemporary, basically, anything you want it to be. The beauty of art is that it means something different to each of us and it’s one of the best ways to make your home unforgettably “you”.
Finding the right art piece for your home can be daunting, but it doesn’t have to be! Read on to see how we’ve worked with our clients to place exceptional artwork in their homes.
Show off your personality
What makes an art collection great? Diversity. Think about when you’re walking through an art museum and about the pieces that catch your eye. There are definitely similarities in the pieces you like, but they aren’t identical. One may be an abstract oil painting and another a black and white photograph, but you then notice that you are looking entirely at portraits, even though created in different mediums. Or, perhaps you are drawn entirely to one color palette, and the medium doesn’t matter. As long as that piece is a soft lilac, you are in!
The contemporary art piece picks up cool neutral tones of the bench and the warmer tones in the rug.
Color, subject or time period are a few different ways to curate your collection. But don’t feel as if you have to choose that one genre and stick to it. By mixing old world paintings with contemporary pieces in different sizes and mediums, you have created a diverse and active collection that will create plenty of interest for you and your guests.
The colors and composition of this piece create a lovely visual texture.
Ah hem… Size matters
When it comes to selecting art, don’t be afraid to go big. In fact, sometimes, larger format is just more fun! A large painting or framed photograph makes a bold statement and becomes the centerpiece of the space. These pieces make the space feel warm, full of character and pulled together.
A large-scale photograph makes this room unique and oh so exciting!
Even with smaller format items, you can group them to create a beautifully curated gallery wall. A collection of items tells a fascinating story and it’s the perfect way to make an impact without making a huge investment. It’s easy to swap out prints and photographs so you can make sure your gallery wall is always fresh and up to date.
Travel and Art
No matter where you are, art can be scouted out. Traveling is the perfect opportunity to select art because, whether it’s at a local market or in a gallery, these are great places to discover artists and find artwork that represents your time in this new city. These pieces add variety to your collection and can be quite the conversation starters.
Don’t forget about the photographs you take on vacation! Even if you feel you don’t have the best photographic eye, these pieces are special to you. Don’t let them live in cyberspace forever! Print out the photos you take on your vacation so you can enjoy them at home and not just on social media. Family photos add a personal touch to the room and help create a unique, personalized and well-tailored collection.

For homeowners, the interior design experience is exciting, fun and challenging – usually in that order! The first obstacle is often that they have TONS of ideas having spent quality time with Pinterest and/or Houzz, perusing endless magazines, not to mention all of the fantastical HGTV episodes. The frustration begins when they aren’t sure how, or simply don’t have the time, to make it beyond the inspiration stage. So, this is where we come in! We often get asked what it’s like to work with the Ohorona24.in.ua team, so I thought what better time to share just what it is we do here at the studio.
Designer vs decorator…is there really a difference? These two terms are often used interchangeably within the design industry and by homeowners alike; however, there are many differences (and similarities) between these two separate occupations.
Let’s break it down and see what sets the two apart and where they share common ground!
Throughout our ten years in business, we have seen some truly stunning homes over the years. The ones that always seem to make us do a double-take usually contain some kind of unique stone or composite accents. Each stone is like its own little work of art – taking kitchens, bathrooms, entryways and more to the next level. Whether it’s a hint of quartz or a complete marble overhaul, we are wild about stones and composite, and always jump at the chance to incorporate them into our designs!
There are a handful of Houston showrooms we rely on to supply the highest quality materials for our clients, and we are so thankful to call them our partners. There’s something about a room without a rug that just feels incomplete. As Walter from the Big Lebowski says – and I 100% agree – “That rug really tied the room together.” Rugs truly bring a home to life and you can introduce one into any space from the bathroom to a closet or the kitchen.
We are lucky enough to work with some wonderful rug suppliers and showrooms here in Houston and have rounded up a few of those fabulous folks. Hopefully, you can pay them a visit and see for yourself their impressive stock of rugs in all shapes, colors and sizes – the perfect complement for any home.

It’s already been a couple of weeks since the Las Vegas Market, yet I still can’t stop thinking about all the amazing designs! This action-packed weekend left me totally inspired after discovering an endless variety of fabulous new product introductions by some of my favorite partners and vendors.
This year, I had the privilege of visiting the market as a Tastemaker, where I was tasked with giving an inside look into the market, as well as tagging my favorite designs and products during the showroom tours. As soon as I began, I quickly realized narrowing down my favorites was not going to be easy because every designer, and manufacturer, brought their A-game.
However, my decision-making abilities prevailed and I was able to choose the pieces I couldn’t live without. Read on to discover all of my fab finds!
The fall High Point Market is a little less than a month away, and I am so excited to return as a Style Spotter for the second time! My first opportunity as a style spotter was at the spring market back in April, and I had such a fun experience exploring the new collections from some of the best designers and vendors in the world. You can find a recap of my spring market adventures .
Now that I have one market experience as a Style Spotter under my belt, I am even more excited to return for round two as a seasoned pro in the style-spotting department. While many designers keep their new collections under wraps until the big reveals at market, I was able to check out pieces from a few of the top vendor’s collections for a Twitter chat I participated in with my fellow Style Spotters. From what I have seen, the fall market will not disappoint!
From blush fabrics to brass finishes, here are some of my favorite pieces I have uncovered so far.
